Installation of shatunno-piston groups on the engine and check of working gaps of shatunny bearings

Selection of loose leaves of shatunny bearings

For the majority of the engines established on cars of considered models, the Citroёn company loose leaves of shatunny bearings of two sizes are issued: standard, for use in a set with standard cranked shaft and repair, established on a shaft after a pro-point of his necks.

More detailed information on release of replaceable components always it is possible to receive in firm Citroёn company service centers. For a guarantee make the order of loose leaves previously having measured diameters of necks of a shaft.

Before installation of shatunno-piston assemblies on the engine it is necessary to make check of working gaps in shatunny bearings of a cranked shaft (see further).

Check of working gaps of bearings

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Carefully wipe backs of loose leaves and their bed in the bottom heads of rods and their covers.

2. Enclose loose leaves of bearings in the bottom heads of rods and their cover, having tracked hit of directing uvulas in reciprocal deepenings. Try not to touch working surfaces of loose leaves. If check of gaps of old bearings is made, track, that loose leaves were established strictly on the former places. Check of working gaps in shatunny bearings can be made by two methods (see further).

3. The first method yields less exact results and the pribolchivaniya of covers to the bottom heads undressed on necks of a shaft of rods (see below subsection "Final installation of shatunno-piston groups", item 6) demands. Loose leaves should be thus enclosed in the beds. Fix covers of the bottom heads of rods old nuts, having tightened them with demanded effort. Further, by means of a nutromer or Columbus equipped with a noniusny scale measurement of internal diameters of assembled bearings is made. From received for each of assemblies of result then diameter of the corresponding neck of a cranked shaft is subtracted.
4. The second method means use of the calibrated plastic wire from a measuring set of Plastigage (see. Installation of a cranked shaft and check of working gaps of radical bearings).
5. Make sure of correctness of installation of loose leaves in beds of the bottom head of a rod and its cover. Wipe shatunny necks of a shaft pure неворсящейся rags. Lay along necks of the cranks which were in provisions NMT pieces of a plastic wire corresponding on length from a measuring set.
6. Put on necks rods, establish to the place of a cover of shatunny bearings (be verified with landing marking).
7. Tighten nuts of their fastening with demanded effort (see below subsection "Final installation of shatunno-piston groups", subitem 7 — 8). Try not to displace the pieces of the calibrated wire laid on necks of a shaft.
8. Without turning rods, remove covers and by extent of flattening of a wire determine size of working gaps of bearings. Measurement of thickness of the flattened-out wire is made on a scale put on packing to a set of Plastigage.
9. If the received results considerably differ from defined by standards, whether it is necessary to check correctly the established loose leaves are picked up for the size. Make sure also that between backs of loose leaves and beds of bearings extraneous particles did not get. Once again measure diameters of shatunny necks of a cranked shaft. If the width of the flattened-out piece of the calibrated wire from one of the ends is more than with opposite, it is necessary to check the corresponding neck of a shaft on existence of an excessive konusnost. In case of need replace the loose leaf or give a shaft to a pro-point with a selection of new loose leaves of the repair size.
10. It is necessary to notice that manufacturers of cars (Citro±n company) does not stipulate an admissible range of sizes of working gaps in shatunny bearings. The values given in Specifications are taken as usual for engines of considered type and they should be considered only as rough. Detailed information on sizes of working gaps and selection of loose leaves of shatunny bearings always can be received at firm car repair shops of the Citroёn company.
11. In summary carefully scratch out traces of the flattened-out wire from shaft necks a nail or edge of an old credit card.

Final installation of shatunno-piston groups

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Sleeves of cylinders (at the corresponding complete set) should be established on the places (see. Cleaning and check of a condition of the block of cylinders/case of the engine). Laid in the block of cylinders the cranked shaft should be fixed by covers of radical bearings (see. Installation of a cranked shaft and check of working gaps of radical bearings).
2. Check correctness of landing of loose leaves of bearings in the beds (see above). If new loose leaves are established, track, that from them traces of preserving greasing were completely removed. Use for rubbing of loose leaves by kerosene or other suitable solvent. Dry wipe blank loose leaves неворсящейся rags. The same rags wipe rods.
3. Grease mirrors of cylinders, pistons and piston rings with pure impellent oil. Spread out shatunno-piston assemblies as their installation on the engine on a pure working surface. In case covers fasten on heads nuts, wind hairpins with an adhesive tape for the purpose of protection of cylinders and necks of a cranked shaft.
4. Begin with installation of shatunno-piston assembly of the first cylinder. Make sure that locks of piston rings are developed the friend in relation to the friend under the correct corners (see. Installation of piston rings). Press out rings an opravka of the special tool.

5. At the top enter an assembly rod into the first cylinder of the engine. Take care of casually not to scratch a cylinder mirror. On petrol engines track, that the label in the form of an arrow on the bottom of the piston appeared is directed towards an arrangement of a drive of GRM, on diesel engines track, that cut in the piston bottom in the form of a shamrock appeared will develop forward on the block (towards installation of the oil filter). Упершись the wooden handle of a hammer in the piston bottom, push its skirt in the cylinder, having densely pressed to a block surface an opravka of the tool pressing out ring. Continuing to press densely an opravka, push the piston more deeply while its bottom will not appear aflush with a surface of the block of cylinders interfaced to a head.

6. Make sure of correctness of installation in the beds of loose leaves of the shatunny bearing. Plentifully grease a neck of the first crank of a cranked shaft and both loose leaves with pure engine oil. Watching to damaging a cylinder mirror, accurately put on the bottom head of a rod the neck of a shaft given to provision NMT.
7. Establish a cover of the shatunny bearing, then screw fixing nuts and tighten them by hand. Track, that identification labels appeared correctly are combined (directing uvulas of loose leaves should rest each other).

8. Evenly, in stages tighten fixing nuts with effort of the first stage of a tightening.

Petrol models

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Completely weaken both nuts and again tighten, this time with effort of the second stage. Now hold on nuts on a corner of thirds of a stage of a tightening, - use a goniometer, or the template cut out from a cardboard.

Diesel models

1. Hold on nuts on a corner of the second stage.

1. Having finished a tightening of nuts of fastening of a cover of a rod, check freedom of rotation of a cranked shaft (the shaft can rotate a little hardly, however should not take place breakthroughs and zakusyvaniye).
2. Operating in a similar manner, establish on the engine the remained shatunno-piston assemblies.
3. Establish a head of cylinders and the oil pump (see. The repair procedures which are not demanding extraction of the engine from the car - petrol engines or the Repair procedures which are not demanding extraction of the engine from the car - diesel engines).
