As an additional complete set on petrol models 1.8 and 2.0 of l, and also on diesel models without a turbo-supercharging 4-step completely automatic transmission (AT) consisting of the converter of rotation, planetary assembly, hydrodriving couplings of coupling and brake tapes (see an illustration External components of the block of automatic transmission) can be established.

The converter of rotation provides liquid transfer of a torque from the engine to transmission. In fact, the converter plays a role of automatic coupling, at the same time providing torque strengthening at acceleration.

Planetary assembly provides four various transfer relations at car movement forward and possibility of inclusion of a reverse. The size of the transfer relation is defined by what components of planetary assembly are blocked at the moment, and what rotate. Blocking and an otpuskaniye of components of planetary assembly is carried out by means of couplings of coupling and the brake tapes activated by the hydraulic control unit. A part AT the liquid pump provides necessary for operation of couplings of coupling and brake tapes hydraulic pressure.

The driver operates transmission functioning by means of the 7-item lever of the selector. Transfer of the lever to situation "D" provides possibility of movement of the car with transmission switching in a full range of the transfer relations of four forward transfers. Function of machine translation of transmission on a low gear is in addition provided at complete squeezing of a pedal of an accelerator (kick-down). Except “D” three more situation, providing car progress in a limited range of the transfer relations of forward transfers is provided. So, in situation "1" possibility of movement of the car not above than on the 1st transfer is provided; in situation "2" transmission can be switched in a range before the 2nd transfer, and in situation "3", respectively, - to the 3rd. Modes of limited ranges are intended for use at car movement in the difficult road conditions connected with need of braking by the engine (for example, movement under a bias or on a serpentine).

At all do not make transmission switching in a mode of restriction of the transfer relations at high turns of the engine (over 4000 in a minute)!

In view of complexity of a design of AT it is necessary to charge performance of any works on its repair to specialists of firm car-care center of the Citroёn company, having the corresponding skills and all necessary equipment. The sections provided further contain only the description of procedures of the general service of AT, which performance under force to the average amateur mechanic.
